When our dogs are getting started with the basics, you only need 15-20 min max to go through some beginner exercises! We all have 15 minutes! The only thing that really takes time in the beginning is learning! You’re figuring out how to best teach something to your dog. Once you have that though, you got it! I used to think that what I was doing for my dogs was the “gold standard,” but the reality is, it’s what all dogs need, all the time! All dogs need: ☀️ Proper exercise (that’s not just fetch—honestly, skip fetch - but that’s for another video 😅) 🐶 Proper weight control so their joints aren’t overloaded or their internal organs aren’t compromised ✨ Proper warm-ups, cool-downs & exercises for any sport/job you’re asking them to do I know the words K9 fitness sound super intimidating, but it’s way easier than you think! I solely mean spending the time and money to fitness train your dog with ANY Certified trainer. Below are the credentials to look for: ☀️ CSCC 🐶 CCFT ✨ CPCFT If we’re asking our dogs to jump, run, climb, decelerate, accelerate, turn, and more, we must train them for it through specialized fitness! 🔥🔥🔥 And!! SKILL training is NOT the same as STRENGTH training!!! So if you say that your dog is prepared because they train obstacles, courses, etc. during the week, that is not the same. Fitness training is KEY to keeping our dogs safe and helping prevent injuries. The last thing I want is for anyone’s dog to get hurt, causing you both to lose something you love doing together.
