☀️ K9 Fitness Equipment ☀️ What dog fitness equipm ☀️ K9 Fitness Equipment ☀️ What dog fitness equipment should I use is a common question I get asked or see people talking about all the time. So let’s break it down!

Stable equipment builds strength. Unstable equipment challenges balance.

We NEVER learn new exercises on unstable equipment and we NEVER do exercises on unstable equipment until our dog can properly and confidently do them on stable.

I think we oftentimes get amazed at these videos (not counting out anything I share on here for inspiration) we see on social media and immediately want to try it out with our dog.

Ask yourself first: Does my dog even need to do that?
If you answered: I have no idea, then working with a Certified K9 fitness trainer like myself is key to ensuring your dog is getting a balanced exercise routine that prepares them for:

✨ Sport specific activities
✨ Everyday health & life activities (including getting off the floor, into cars, on beds, playing fetch, going on hikes)
✨ Age specific exercises (puppies vs. adult dogs vs. seniors all need different things!)

☀️ Dog Sports & K9 Fitness ☀️ There’s this big mis ☀️ Dog Sports & K9 Fitness ☀️ There’s this big misconception that because you have an active breed or a dog that’s fast and can go around a course that they’re fit to do sports regularly without any additional help/training.

Could you run a marathon if you didn’t train for it? Could you enter a lifting competition without ever strength training?

Sport dogs are athletes and must train like them. Just like us! Walking out onto an agility field, dock diving dock, lure coursing field, etc. and expecting our dog to be able to do it easily without potentially hurting themselves is setting our dogs up for failure.

Join me at Sunshine K9 to prepare your dog for their sport(s) of choice to help prevent injury and make your dog stronger.
☀️ Sunshine K9 Of The Month ☀️ Technically K9’s be ☀️ Sunshine K9 Of The Month ☀️ Technically K9’s because I couldn’t pick just one from this dynamic duo! Say hi to Roo and Emmie!!! Roo is an 11 month old Whippet and Emmie is 3.5 year old supermutt! 🤩

These two have been doing amazing work with their fitness routines, build body awareness and strength for all of their current and upcoming activities!

Let’s give Roo and Emmie a big round of applause for being two pretty amazing and fit dogs! 👏👏👏
☀️ Signs Of Fatigue In Dogs ☀️ This is Part 1 of l ☀️ Signs Of Fatigue In Dogs ☀️ This is Part 1 of learning the signs of fatigue in dogs during our K9 fitness training and in any everyday activity we do with our dogs!

Since our dogs can’t talk to us directly, we need to be aware of how and when they are tired and need rest, especially when they don’t want to quit (hello high-drive dogs 😏).

The four signs of fatigue in dogs covered in Part 1. are:
✨ Excessive Panting
✨ Poor Form
✨ Refusal To Perform An Exercise
✨ Hard Mouth

From this list, the signs my dogs have done in the past are hard mouth (Diesel) and poor form (Annie).

🔥 The number one rule with K9 fitness is: when in doubt, rest your dog!
